NS 9611

Requirements for Design, Strength, and Testing of Tool Tethering Components for Work at Height

NS 9611 specifies requirements for the design, strength, and testing of safety components used to secure tools against falling to lower levels during work at height. Falling objects during work at height are frequently represented in workplace accident statistics. Therefore, there is a requirement to secure tools used in elevated work areas.

The standard describes:

  • Requirements for the design and construction of tool tethering systems for use at height.
  • Testing requirements for these components.

The standard does not apply to permanently installed equipment and does not cover usage or training in the use of the equipment.

It is intended for all manufacturers and operators of tools used for work at height. The bibliography lists standards, norms, laws, regulations, and other literature that may be relevant in connection with the application of the standard.
