EN 12492 Work-at-Height Protection
The PWRX Hardhat R2 is certified according to EN 12492, a helmet standard originally developed for mountaineering and now widely used for professional work-at-height applications. Easy click system for Visor.
EN 12492 helmets are designed for work situations where there is a risk of slipping, falling, swinging movement, or impact from more than one direction. This makes the helmet especially suitable for demanding environments such as:
-
Telecommunications
-
Scaffolding
-
Arboriculture
-
Rescue work
- Industrial work in general
-
Industrial work at height
-
Offshore and maintenance tasks where secure helmet retention is required
A key requirement of EN 12492 is the high-strength chinstrap system. Unlike standard industrial helmets, the chinstrap must remain securely fastened and must not release under a force of at least 500 N. This helps ensure that the helmet stays firmly on the user’s head during a fall, sudden movement, or side impact.
EN 12492 helmets are tested for impact protection from multiple directions, including:
-
Crown / top impact
-
Front impact
-
Side impact
-
Rear impact
This makes EN 12492 particularly relevant where workers may be exposed not only to falling objects, but also to slips, swings and multidirectional impacts.
